Trying new tactic today: *I* make the initial phone call, and then E gets on the phone at the very end when they ask to talk to him for authorization. We haven't done this before because, while I have an excellent phone manner, E has a good one-- he minds his "sirs" and "ma'am's", makes no jokes, and doesn't raise his voice. The number one difference here is gender.
